The City of Bonn hosted the celebration together with the Federal President, the German Bundestag, the Bundesrat, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Foundation.
Celebrations were held on United Nations Square, in the World Conference Center Bonn, Villa Hammerschmidt and its park, in the Bundesrat, in the BMZ with the historic Chancellor's Room and the former Cabinet Room as well as in the park of Palais Schaumburg with the Chancellor's Bungalow.
